Cavalcade of Lights in Berczy Park on Saturday, December 1st

26 Nov

IMG_4792We invite you to enjoy the annual Cavalcade of Lights in Berczy Park this Saturday December 1st, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.

Hosted by the St Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA, enjoy carolling by the Halton Jazz Singers and  free hot beverages, as we light of the park for the holidays.

In addition to the brightly lit stage and park pathways, watch for a special surprise addition to our beloved-dog fountain, thanks to the hard work of some dedicated knitting senior citizens from the St Lawrence neighbourhood.

And, please bring an unwrapped toy to donate to 51 Division’s Cram-A-Cruiser Toy Drive, for families in need. Happy holiday season for all!

Partial closure of Berczy Park for Santa Claus Parade

13 Nov

santa-claus_paradePark visitors should be advised that a large part of Berczy Park will be closed to the public on Sunday, November 18th during the annual Santa Claus Parade.

From 5am – 5:30pm on Sunday November 18th, parade organizers will fence off the park fountain, the main green space along Scott Street, and the Front Street border of the park, to install a private-access viewing area and entertainment for special-access guests and event sponsors (including young patients and families from Sick Kids and other community organizations).

To ensure that the public can access a sizeable portion of the park during the event, organizers will maintain the northeastern section of the park as ‘open to the public’. This area, see the green-coloured part on the map below, will include the mural garden/gravel pet-relief area at the base of the Flatiron Bldg and the northern-eastern grassy lawn/hill, bordering Wellington Street (opposite East Thirty-Six and Uncle Tony’s restaurants).

IMG_1566The public will be able to access these areas of Berczy Park from Wellington Street only, since Front and Scott Streets borders will be fenced or obstructed with seating. Security staff will be happy to direct the public to the accessible areas of the park.

We thank you for your understanding as this popular holiday event visits our community and brings joy to many young and old. We hope you too enjoy the parade as it passes through our neighbourhood from noon to 4pm on Nov 18th.
