24 Jun

IMG_6238Help make Berczy Park sparkle for Canada Day weekend visitors to our park!

Please join us Saturday, June 30 from 10am to noon for our next volunteer-clean up event when we’ll collect litter, sweep up cigarette butts and weed the gardens.

Friends Of Berczy Park and Toronto Free Walking Tours will provide supplies, gloves and water, but feel free to bring your own favourite work gloves, broom or garden tools, as well as wardrobe for the weather, a hat and sunblock. We hope to see many faces both old and new join this event.

ps: Thanks to our neighbour, GWL Realty Advisors (property mgrs of 33 Yonge), for sending a cleaning crew in advance to help keep the Scott St/Berczy Park boundary clean!

Then join Toronto Public Library, St Lawrence Branch, and Friends of Berczy Park as we launch our new, summertime book club in Berczy Park.

To take part, just come by the park each Tuesday, from July 3rd to August 7th, 10:30am to noon.

IMG_7017Best of all, there’s no homework or weekly assigned pre-reading, since each week we will hand out copies of the story to  read together and discuss the themes.

Not only is this a great way to meet other members of our community – including dedicated book-lovers – it’s also a great activity for anyone who wants to practice their English reading, including newcomers to Canada.
