Celebrating Canada Day in our Park
3 JulFriends of Berczy Park and the St Lawrence Market Neighbourhood Assoc. (SLNA) hosted an afternoon of activities in Berczy Park to mark Canada Day. As the final stop on the annual SLNA Canada Day Parade, the Berczy crowds enjoyed refreshments, a Canada Day toy boat regatta in the fountain, and a book borrow cart from the St. Lawrence Library.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of Stories from The Esplanade Art Exhibit by City Councillor Pam McConnell with the participating artists. This month-long sculpture display in Berczy Park is organized by community art group Jamii, and includes three unique and bold installations developed by 11 cross-generational female residents of The Esplanade neighbourhood. The display will continue through July. * Photos courtesy of Photographer Laura Dittmann and Harvey Levkoe.
